Members
Pharmacotherapy Group is a group of scientists and professionals
with interest in medicine-related research and development. Current
members include the following:
1.
Professor Augustine Okhamafe – Chairman
Professor
Augustine O Okhamafe is a versatile researcher with wide-ranging
consultancy and other expertise and experiences. He graduated from
the University of Benin with a BPharm degree (1st Class
Hons) and the University of Bradford, U.K. with a PhD in
Pharmaceutical Technology. He is currently a Professor of
Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of
Benin. He has held various positions at the University of Benin
including Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Chairman, Information &
Communication Technology Unit; Ag Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic),
and member of Governing Council. He has served/is still serving as a
consultant and expert to various governmental and private firms
within and outside Nigeria including the following: Edo State
Government; Biode Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Lagos; Edo
Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Benin City; Jimah Yesuf
Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Igarra; National Programme on
Immunisation, Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja/WHO; Abbot
Laboratories Inc, Montreal, Canada; Federal Government/UNICEF
Working Group on ORT; Nigerian Hoechst Ltd, Lagos; Associated
Pharmaceutical Products Ltd, Lagos; Federal Ministry of Health’s
Expert Committee on National Pharmacopoeia; and Igbinedion
University, Okada (on ICT matters). He is a winner of numerous
awards amongst which are the 1st ECOWAS Prize for
Excellence in African Pharmacopoeia; 1st May & Baker
Prize for Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences; and Outstanding
Contribution Award at the 1st Nigerian Universities
Research & Development Fair, Abuja. Professor Okhamafe has also
received several grants from, amongst others, UNESCO; Raw Materials
Research and Development Council, Abuja; National Science and
Technology Fund, and private pharmaceutical firms. He is a Fellow of
both the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacy and the
Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, and has to his credit over
seventy (70) publications/papers published/presented in/at various
journals/conferences across the globe.
2. Dr Patrick O Erah – Executive Director
Dr
Erah is a Senior Lecturer and former head of the Department of
Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice, Faculty of Pharmacy,
University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. He is the Coordinator of
the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Conversion Programme at the same
institution. He is currently the Coordinator of African
Bioninformatics Network (AbioNet) with headquarters in South African
National Bioninformatics Institute (SANBI), University of Western
Cape, Bellville, South Africa. He is the Editor of the Tropical
Journal of Pharmaceutical Research. Dr Erah holds a BPharm and
MPharm (Clinical Pharmacy) degrees of the University of Benin, Benin
City as well as a PhD degree of the University of Nottingham,
Nottingham, UK. He has written many scientific papers in peer
reviewed international journals. He is an expert in pharmacokinetics
and biostatistics and have been involved in clinical studies in both
man and animals.

Professor Sunday Adelusi - Member
A
Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Benin, Benin
City, Prof Adelusi is a public analyst and pharmacokinetics expert.
He has been involved in a number of pharmacokinetic studies in both
man and animals.

Professor John Akerele - Member
Prof
Akerele is a pharmacist and Professor of Pharmaceutical
Microbiology, University of Benin, Benin City. He was formerly the
Assistant Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy. He has been involved in a
number of pharmacokinetic studies.

Dr Isi Ikhuoria - Member
Dr
Ikhuoria is an Associate Professor of geographic information system
and cartography in University of Benin, Benin City. He is in the
Department of Geography & Regional Planning in Faculty of Social
Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City.

Dr Ambrose O Isah - Member
Dr
Isah is a Consultant Clinical Pharmacologist and an Associate
Professor of Medicine in University of Benin, Benin City. He is also
a member of the editorial board of the Tropical Journal of
Pharmaceutical Research. He has been involved in a number of
clinical studies both within and outside the country.

Prof (Mrs) Obehi Okojie - Member
Prof (Mrs) Okojie is a Consultant Community Health Physician and an
Associate Professor of Community Health in University of Benin,
Benin City. She is also a member of the editorial board of the
Tropical Journal of Pharmaceutical Research.

Dr (Mrs) Ifeyinwa F Obuekue - Member
Dr
(Mrs) Obuekue is a Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Microbiology,
University of Benin, Benin City. He has written many scientific
papers

Dr (Mrs) Florence E Eichie - Member
Dr (Mrs)
Eichie holds a PhD in Pharmaceutics & Pharmaceutical Technology. She
is a Pharmacist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of
Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, University of Benin,
Benin City. She has been involved in medicine formulation and
evaluation of various dosage forms.

Dr Nelson A Ochekpe - Member
Formerly a Director in National Agency for Food & Drug
Administration and COntrol (NAFDAC), Dr Ochekpe is pharmacist, an
expert in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and currently a Senior Lecturer
in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Jos, Jos.
10. Dr (Mrs) Obehi A Akoria - Member
Dr
(Mrs) Akoria is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical
College of Nigeria (Clinical Pharmacology/Therapeutics). She is an
astute clinician and currently a Lecturer in the Department of
Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice, University of Benin, Benin
City. She has been involved as a key investigator in major clinical
trials, and is a member of the Nigerian Care Group – International
Network for Rational Use of Medicines (INRUD).
11. Dr (Mrs) Magdalene E Odunvbun - Member
Dr
(Mrs) Odunvbun is a Fellow of the West African College of
Physicians. She is a Paediatrician and currently lecturing in the
Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice, University of
Benin, Benin City.
12. Prof Cyril O Usifoh - Member
Prof Usifoh is a Pharmacist and Professor in pharmaceutical
chemistry at the University of Benin, Benin City. He is a synthetic
chemist and has experience in analytical chemistry and clinical
studies including pharmacokinetics.
13. Dr Ehijie FO Enato - Member
Dr
Enato holds a PhD degree in Clinical Pharmacy. He is a Pharmacist
and Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy
Practice, University of Benin, Benin City. He is a young academic
with a great research potential. He has been involved in a number of
pharmacy practice research and is currently working with an
international group on malaria.
